uniCity operates on multi-application concept. This service umbrella solution offers easy service entry from ordinary smart cards to Web and wireless use. Service providers benefit of easy management, instant clearing, accounting, invoicing, reporting and transaction data analysis for continuous service development and targeted marketing. uniCity has been created according to European and Finnish standards. All its interfaces and data structures are standard, documented and able to utilize the most advanced and best available equipment – e.g., bus validators between different operators to one single system.

uniCity provides both the service providers and the users of strict information, security which is based on electronic, certified and verified identification (PKI). Critical business data or private information on individuals can not be misappropriated for unauthorized use.
Growing mobile with the customers
The flexible uniCity multi-service platform accommodates with customers' habits and also their technological ability. Some people may be happy with just a smart card, others like wapping around with their mobile phones. Today, most Finns are more likely to carry a cellular phone than a purse full of small change with them.

Today, uniCity cards are today utilized all over Finland. The cities of Vaasa, Rovaniemi, Seinäjoki, Espoo, Oulu (see case presentation), Pori and Vantaa, cover hundreds of thousands of potential individual users. They use electronic purses, public transport, taxis, sports facilities, libraries, cafés, city service points with uniCity cards. Not only this, the service range is constantly growing wider. Adding the PKI -services will allow, legal transactions in business or with the authorities.
Unicom is already in negotiating about the exporting ofuniCity to several European countries.
